We’re superstitious in the best of ways. We believe being number 13 on the Parade of Homes tour gives Summit Custom Homes a unique position in the 2016 lineup of outstanding homes. It’s a lovely time of year to drive north from Durango as autumn blankets our mountains in brilliant hues. The weather may be damp this weekend, but when the destination is curling up by a log fire, sipping warm spiced cider, and lingering in a home designed and furnished for ultimate mountain comfort, the drive is well worth your time.
The Friday evening “Homes Under the Stars” event is a great way to see a home the way you often see your own home, when you return in the evening and catch the welcoming lights of home. The evening lights, the soft setting of the sun from the eagles’ aerie decks, and the welcoming scents of a real mountain home all say “Come in and find solace.” This event also gives you an edge to get started on your weekend tour so you can get to all of the houses and register to win the great prizes, and still have a bit of time this weekend for raking leaves or an autumn walk in the hills.
Our dedicated parade sponsors are again offering some amazing prizes. Year after year in the Durango Area Parade of Homes, Southwest Appliance, Smart Enterprises, Tile and Light Art, Four Corners Stoves and Spas, Closets Plus, and Colorado Fenestra, step up to offer prizes worth thousands of dollars. With the other loyal parade sponsors, they make a strong testimony of how important this Parade of Homes is to our community and the local economy. Please make a point to frequent all the listed parade sponsors in your daily business. These are the local businesses that actually care about local business.
“Homes under the Stars” becomes “Homes Under the Skies” on Saturday and Sunday, as the sun peeks through our azure skies to highlight the building expertise in this home on the cliffs of Engineer Village. Hands-on construction buffs can appreciate the skill and engineering that underpins this home to take full advantage of the site and views. It wouldn’t be possible without the skilled help of our architect, Don Ford. He and Ron have a knack for placing these homes to take the best possible advantage of the spectacular building envelopes in Engineer Village. Take a moment and think about what it took to finish that chimney cap on top of this roof, and to wonder just how that hot tub got placed on that deck.
Summit Custom Homes has built six of the homes in Engineer Village, so drive around a bit while you are here. You may recognize the Snowdon model on Engineer Drive, our 2005 parade model. In fact, Summit Custom Homes has enjoyed spectacular success in prior parades right here in this neighborhood. If you have a little time, take a quick hike on some of the trails around the resort, or just stretch your legs in Engineer Village. Yes, it’s a workout. The streets have some good grades, so the parade not only makes your heart happy, you can be heart healthy too.
Engineer Village is not just a resort destination. Some homeowners choose to live here year-round, to take advantage of the amazing amenities that come with being part of the Purgatory Village. Lift service to the slopes, tennis courts, fishing ponds, warm pools… it’s an enviable lifestyle right here so near a bustling, iconic mountain home.
When nature and geography conspire to create beautiful weather, outstanding mountain views, and a ski resort that is the best-kept secret in Colorado, it makes creating a beautiful resort home a labor of love. Please enjoy this amazing example of a beautiful Summit Custom home, designed, created, and furnished to be exactly what our customers wanted.
